Regular Meeting Agenda

  1. Call to Order
    President Gott called the Regular Meeting of the Marion Park District to order at 6:06
    p.m. with the following Commissioners present:
    Commissioner Gardiner
    Commissioner Sheffler
    Commissioner McReynolds
    Commissioner Welch
    Commissioner Gott
  2. Open Forum
    There is no one from the public attending open forum.
  3. Introduction of new hire Kelton Akers.
  4. Approval of August 23, 2022, Agenda

Commissioner Gardiner made a motion at 6:11 p.m.; seconded by Commissioner Welch
to approve the August 23, 2022, agenda. Roll called. Motion carried with unanimous
vote with those present.

  1. Approval of Regular Hearing Minutes: July 26, 2022
    Commissioner McReynolds made a motion at 6:12 p.m.; seconded by Commissioner
    Sheffler to approve the July 26, 2022, Regular Minutes. Roll called. Motion carried
    with unanimous vote with those present.
  2. Approval of July 2022 Financial Report
    Director Reed advised the Commissioners we are only in the first month of the fiscal
    year. Director Reed did want to point out that we are $253,295.00 over the 18 % reserve
    and he had figured we would be right at the $225,000.00.
    Commissioner Gott wanted to know if Director Reed wanted to update the
    Commissioners regarding renegotiating the rates with Peoples National Bank. Director
    Reed states that he has not received from the bank and would report at the next meeting.
    Commissioner Sheffler made a motion at 6:14 p.m.; seconded by Commissioner Welch to
    approve the July 2022 Financial Report. Roll called. Motion carried with unanimous
    vote with those present.

    Director Reed went over the reports highlighting the projects that Park Service employees
    have completed during the month and pictures were shown to the Commissioners of all
    the projects completed.

  1. Executive Session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act (if
    requested):
    a. Executive / Closed Minutes – Discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed
    under Illinois Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of
    the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes.
    b. Personnel – To consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline,
    performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel
    for the public body, including hearing testimony or complaint lodged against an
    employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine
    its validity.
    Executive Session was not visited during the monthly meeting.
  2. Reconvene to Open Session (possible actions following Executive Session)
  3. New Business
    a. Resolution 22-03, OSLAD Grant.
    Commissioner Sheffler made a motion at 6:31 p.m.; seconded by Commissioner Welch to
    approve Resolution 22-03, OSLAD Grant. Roll called. Motion carried with
    unanimous vote with those present.
    b. Approval of Executive Session minutes from January 25, 2022, March 22, 2022, June
    21, 2022, and July 26, 2022, to remain closed with or without exception.
    Item tabled until next meeting with no motions.
    c. Discuss / Approve 2023 baseball and softball tournament dates as follows:
  4. Greater Midwest Baseball (Hooper) – April 28 th & 29 th
  5. Greater Midwest Baseball (Hooper) – June 3 rd & 4 th
  6. USSSA (Strode) – last weekend in June 2023.

Commissioner Gardiner made a motion at 6:32 p.m.; seconded by Commissioner Sheffler to
approve 2023 baseball and softball tournament dates. Roll called. Motion carried with
unanimous vote with those present.

  1. Next Meeting Date: September 27, 2022
  2. Adjournment
    Commissioner Gardiner made a motion at 6:33 p.m.; seconded by Commissioner
    McReynolds to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Marion Park District. Roll called.
    Motion carried with unanimous vote with those present.
